Also known as a line edit, this will ensure that all grammar and spelling is up to standard. From the 'there, they're and their' to the 'to, two and too' and even 'than and then', I will go through the entire manuscript to ensure it is ready to go to ARC readers. This also involves ensuring that the spelling of fantastical words is consistent.
A one page document will be provided with words that are frequently used and can be replaced for variety, as well as initial thoughts on the work.
Two week turnaround.

So you've written a book! Congratulations! Now the hard part starts, making it actually resemble a book that could sit on the shelves of a major bookstore! A developmental edit will look at the overall structure of the novel. Do your characters have consistency? Does the magic system make sense? Or are there so many holes in the document that it is resembling Swiss cheese?
Major grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors will be corrected throughout the document.
A one page document will be included with any plot inconsistencies and things for the author to consider to make the overall story stronger from a readers aspect, as well as initial thoughts on the work.
Three week turnaround.

Who
am I?
My passion for well-written books started when I was a terror in grade three and first learned how to read English. As the years went on, my hunger to fill my brain with literature became insatiable, to the point that my parents wouldn’t ground me from technology but would instead take away the books I had in my room.
In 2016, I was a first responder for the Fort McMurray wildfire. This drastically altered my life and set me on a path I hadn’t thought to pursue. My mental health suffered, and as a result so did my annual reading goals. In 2021, things took a turn for the better. I started reading again, I started writing my own book. This relit the passion I had forgotten about over the years.
In 2024, I finished writing my first novel. A memoir. The creative well that had previously dried up was once again tapped. Book ideas started flowing faster than I could write them down on paper. I started beta and ARC reading for other authors. Then I made the leap and offered to edit another author’s work.
I loved it immediately, and EmBr Editing was born.
Sometimes, all you need is a second set of eyes on your work, I look forward to being that for you.

Yes! I get it, editing can get expensive. We can discuss bundling things together and a lower cost in emails or via a call.

Absolutely!
For more information about referrals please reach out via email or through the “Contact Me” form.
-
Fantasy, romance, romantasy and general fiction are my preferred areas to work in.
I will also work on memoirs and light sci-fi. Please note, I am not a Sheldon Cooper when it comes to the science end of sci-fi, but I will try my best.
-
Ideally this can be avoided with all the discussions and paperwork that will be occurring prior to a contract being signed.
With that being said, things happen. It is my hope that we can build a good enough relationship where open communication is the norm, if you are unhappy with something please reach out as soon as you can so we can discuss a solution that we will both be happy with.
-
Of course! Please note, tightening deadlines will likely come with a surcharge.

Any work that has been created with AI in any form will be an automatic pass from me.
I am willing to discuss working on anything else, even if it isn't one of my preferred genres.
